Before Paul's death, he admonished Timothy to ensure he carries out his duties. Paul told him three very important things he did; he said "I have fought the good fight", "I have finished the race" and "I have kept the faith".
How faithful are you? How do you keep the faith? The word for ‘keep’ means to manage, to guard, to look over. Some Christians bury their faith like the man with one talent (Matthew 25:24-25). Paul is telling us here that we must manage, guard and look over our Faith. Your Faithfulness to Christ is very important and being faithful now does not guarantee that you will finish well, but it puts you in the position to be able to do it. When you are not faithful now, finishing well becomes much harder for you later.
Hebrews 11:1 says "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. You have to put your faith to work always even when things around you seem unbearable and impossible. Whatever challenge you may be facing, it takes your faith to overcome it. For everyone born of God overcomes the world and this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4).
Spend time with God in the Word and prayer. In other words, have a good relationship with Him. When you take in and receive the Word of God in the right way, you will be enriched spiritually and your faith will soar. As you step across the finish line you will hear the words “Well done good and faithful servant.”
