"That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus." Philemon 1:6 KJV.
Putting yourself down can be damaging to your self-esteem and self-confidence. This includes the words you say out loud in addition to your internal self-talk. Negative words as well as thoughts can be very believable and they distort your perception about yourself. They impact on your sense of self-worth. When you talk negatively about yourself to others, the words have a greater effect. You’re also making it easier for others to put you down, but the good news is that you can stop putting yourself down and build your self-esteem.
Some may put themselves down because of a feeling of insecurity, believing you’re not worthy or probably because of a habit. You could be used to saying “I can’t,” “I don’t have,” “I’m ugly,” “I’m stupid” or “I’m useless.” You might have been put down by others in the past and you accepted all they said, believing it’s better to put yourself down before anyone else does.
Putting anyone down, including yourself, is emotional bullying. Most of us consider bullying from others as a bad thing, so why bully yourself? It seems like we have a double standard and treat others better than we treat ourselves. It’s not okay to put anyone down and that includes yourself.
You can’t control what others say about you but you can control what you say about yourself. There are ways you can take to stop putting yourself down; (1). Talk about yourself in a healthy manner; (2). Pay attention to your negative talking; (3). Stop comparing yourself to other people. Almost everyone does this, and it can be very destructive to your self esteem. Judging yourself against someone else, whether it's their looks, grades, personality, popularity, achievements will always leave you unsatisfied. There will always be someone who seems to be better looking, or smarter, or cooler than you are. But these people aren't perfect, either. Focus on your strengths and what makes you great.

Declare This: Dear Lord, You wonderfully and fearfully made me in Your image and likeness; therefore I will never put myself down in anyway. I will always communicate the right words about me in Jesus name Amen.
